Support THE KILTON Inn

And Surrounding Land at mere

British company AG Hotels Group purchased the Casa Mere Hotel and The Kilton Inn pub earlier this year. As part of the acquisition from Greene King, the company also acquired 11 acres of land to the rear of the pub.

More recently, The Kilton Inn pub has been forced to reduce its trading hours, and the Casa Mere Hotel has been subject to a Home Office contract for displaced migrants, which is ending soon.

The Kilton Inn has a long history dating back to the 1700s and is an attractive building steeped in heritage. In the current market, due to the cost-of-living crisis and changing consumer habits, the Pub is witnessing reduced trading volumes, making it harder for the pub to maintain a revenue base sufficient to cover the operating expenses and increased costs.

This is happening across the country and sadly leading to the closure of many much-loved British pubs.

SAVE OUR PUB AND BOOST YOUR COMMUNITY

The only way to make the pub and hotel viable is to invest further capital and increase the footfall and trading volumes. We are looking to submit a planning application to add circa 50 high-quality holiday lodges on the site, a farm shop and a post office, and a complete hotel refurbishment.

The proposed scheme has various attractive features including renewable energy sources, water features to attract biodiversity, extensive landscaping and a farm shop/convenience store with a post office counter. Such investment in the proposed project will make The Kilton Inn Pub and Hotel viable and boost the local economy and tourism in the area, creating new jobs.

It is proposed to sensitively develop the land, which will be screened heavily from the road and neighbours, to create a sustainable, net-zero development of semi-permanent timber structures (holiday lodges). Set in nature, they’ll provide a destination in their own right and bring new customers to eat and drink in our pub. In addition, we recognise the lack of amenities locally and propose a convenient farm shop selling local produce for the benefit of the surrounding community and guests staying at the lodges.

We have discussed our plans with Mere Parish Council and the office of Ester McVey MP and have received encouraging feedback, and we now are delighted to reveal our exciting plans to the residents to ask for support before our planning submission.

Potential Eco Holiday Lodges

Our development would feature hand-crafted cabins of the highest quality. Born from an obsession with unusual design, lodges will provide the ideal setting to escape from day-to-day life, relax and recharge.

We want visitors to truly take time for themselves, reconnect with nature and practice self-care in a stunning setting. This will be a destination in its own right and on the doorstep of one of Cheshire’s most sought-after golf and spa country clubs.

Potential Retail Amenities

This opportunity offers many benefits to the local community in an area that needs more amenities. As well as providing residents with much-needed conveniences, including a vibrant farm shop with local organic produce, a gastropub, a delicatessen and a post office counter, the site would encourage tourism, provide employment, and generate enhanced biodiversity.

Existing Kilton Inn Pub

If you support The Kilton in this vision, it will safeguard the future sustainability of the pub and hotel, which is a valued community asset and struggling in today’s challenging economic climate. With your help, we can deliver a sustainable net-zero development that supports tourism and employment in the local area.
